Life with Lucy

Lucy is just growing so fast!  We can't believe how much progress she has made.  A couple of weeks ago we went to the pediatrician and she is already ten pounds six ounces.  She's two cheeks with a baby attached!

We think Lucy is so photogenic and beautiful!  You can really see her cute little personality shine through.  She still loves her "roo" and actually interacts with the mobile on the top.  There is a black and white side or a colored side to this mobile.  Lucy will sit there and look straight up while kicking her legs and moving her arms!

Lucy is showing her sweet little smile!  We swear that she even giggles!  She is so happy all of the time.  We thank God for her every day - we have been so blessed with this little bundle of joy!  Sometimes we don't even have to be saying anything to her and she will smile.  Actually, Winnie can make her smile a lot!  Lucy is very intrigued by our little puppy.

Winnie used to sleep in our bed, but lately she likes to sleep right under Lucy's rock 'n' play.  I think she feels rather protective of Lucy.

Even when running errands, Winnie wants to be under her!

Naturally, Lucy has been shopping and eating at restaurants all over Houston!  She is so well behaved that it is easy to take her out!  Lucy will sit there in her stroller and watch everything, but her favorite thing to look at are lights!

Lucy especially loves when we find sales at stores (just like her momma AND her daddy is pretty excited that it's a sale, too).

She gets a bath about every other evening right before bed.  Her face shows that she's not super enthused about getting one, but we think she is liking it better than she has.

Not to mention that during and after bath time are the ONLY times that her hair is flat.

Lucy is still sleeping through the night!  Her sleeping schedule is usually 10:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.  We are so thankful for her good sleeping habits! Lucy wakes up and she is all smiles, probably because she knows it's eating time!

Our favorite thing that Lucy does is when she sneezes (usually in groups of three), she sometimes doesn't get a full sneeze in.  She will inhale and shut her eyes like she is going to sneeze, but nothing comes out.  So, she will make a big sigh of relief.  It's the sweetest sound ever!

Cole went to New York City with five of his friends for a long weekend and he missed her so much!  He said he was having some serious withdrawals.  However, Lucy gets to sleep in the big bed when one of us is gone and believe me, she sprawls out!

This past weekend, the MacDonalds were in town to visit before the boys start school again.  They were so excited to see her and how much she has changed.  One thing that Cole and I have learned about seeing our families is that they were more excited to see Winnie than us, and now they are more excited to see Lucy than us!  So, the order of excitement is: Lucy, Winnie, and then us! :)  While they were here, we made Lucy's footprints and handprints in a frame!

Lucy looks so concentrated on her work of art!

This weekend she will get to see the Meyers and have some more adventures!

Lucy is such a joy and every day it seems like she has changed in some way or learned something new.    We can't wait to see what she will learn next!  (Maybe she will learn to swipe her VISA at a store like her momma or start strumming the guitar like her daddy!)  We think she's so advanced for her age!  :) Ha.

Birth to Two Weeks Old!

As most of you know, Lucy Meyer MacDonald was born on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 1:06 p.m.  We checked into the hospital Monday night at 7:00 p.m. after eating dinner with both of our families.  They began giving us the pills that induced the labor.  At 5:40 a.m. the next morning (Tuesday), my water broke before the doctor came in and the contractions were definitely strong.  After the epidural, Cara didn't feel a thing.  When she was born, she was beautiful!

After they cleaned her off, Lucy looked much better!  :)

When the epidural wore off, Cara was so hungry.  Hadn't eaten since dinner the night before!

This picture was taken on Wednesday, the day after she was born.  We were finally able to dress Lucy in her clothes!

Bob and Linda loved holding her!

Cole and Meemaw with Baby Lucy at the hospital.  Cole looks like one proud daddy!

Austin and Bruce with Lucy.

Who knew that a room full of adults could be so mesmerized by a baby??

This picture was taken on Thursday, the day that we finally got to take Lucy home!  Even though it was only two days after she was born, it seemed like forever!

Bob and Linda picked us up from the hospital to take us home.  When we got back to the apartment, they both had decorated the place and provided cake and lunch for everyone!  We loved it!!

We still can't believe that the day we came home from the hospital everyone went to dinner at a Korean restaurant!

Lucy's first sponge bath at home!

Lucy loves to sleep with her hands around her face.  We tried swaddling her, but she is like Houdini!  Her arms magically appear after about thirty seconds!

We just got home from taking newborn pictures a week after Lucy was born.

Here she is in "the roo" already working on a bad habit - thumb sucking :).

Now, we can't believe that Lucy is already a little over two weeks old!  She keeps growing so much... and by that we mean that she has such chubby little cheeks and legs.  Lucy loves to cuddle and be held, which we obviously don't have a problem with either :).  When she opens her eyes really wide, we call her "bright eyes".  Lucy has been opening her eyes much more lately and loves staring at lamps.  She sometimes has this face that we call her "old lady face" because she puffs out her lips and raises her eyebrows.  We will try and catch her in the action and post a picture.

Winnie has really taken an interest in Lucy.  Here's a picture of Cole holding her and Winnie trying to be right in the middle of everything.

Lucy loves the car - she usually just falls asleep.  We've been to Central Market, out to dinner, shopping, and up to Cole's work to meet her daddy for lunch.  She is such a trooper!  Her mild temperament and laid back attitude is one that she received from Cole.  We can tell that she is already going to be a daddy's girl.

We bought a swing/bouncer called a "mamaroo" that is in the living room and she loves it.  It has five different movements with sounds and a vibrant colored mobile.  She will stare at the mobile for a long time while she is moving.  Sometimes it puts her to sleep, but most of the time she is wide awake.

Lucy has been sleeping in our room next to the bed in a little rocker.  She usually only wakes up once a night around 2:00-3:00, but lately she has been waking up twice, which puts her up when Cole wakes up for work around 5:45.  It's usually pretty easy to put her back to sleep.

Here is one picture of Lucy when she is SUPPOSED to be asleep in her rocker, but is wide awake.

We are on the way to lunch!  In this picture, you can really tell that she has her daddy's hair!!

Cole feeding Lucy and, again, Winnie being right there with her.

She's been so much fun and we can't wait to see what the pediatrician says about how much she's grown on Friday.  We will let you know!

Lucy's Baby Room

Here are some pictures of Lucy's baby room.  We decided to use yellow and gray as the main colors.  She will love it! :)

We are officially in the last week and a half of our pregnancy and we are HUGE!

Can't wait for Lucy!

We are patiently (or impatiently!) awaiting Baby Lucy's arrival!  We wanted to start a blog to keep family and friends updated on our new life together.  As of today, we are going in Memorial Day to be induced if she has not come before then.  She will be a May baby!  We can't wait to see her... wonder if she will look more like Cole or Cara!?
